Increasing Online Sales Through TikTok

Over the last few years, TikTok has taken on a life of its own.

The global video platform boasts 50 million daily active users, with much of this audience claiming a wide array of ages, backgrounds, and interests (HootSuite).

Where TikTok thrives the most, though, is its unique ability to successfully capture and convert audience engagement into money. The average individual who loads up their app spends over an hour and a half watching and scrolling through content (Source: Wallaroo Media), which ultimately translates into sales.

TikTok’s engagement levels and its sheer audience scope and reach make the platform an incredible marketing channel that every business can sell through.

How to Increase Your Online Sales through TikTok

In short… TikTok has power.

By building an “infinite loop of shoppertainment” powered by advertisements, TikTok has been able to turn clicks and views into real revenue – significantly impacting online eCommerce. According to Search Engine Land, TikTok is close to contributing $20 billion in merchandise sales for this year alone. Imagine the difference consistent, additional sales could make to your business.

Step 1. Establish a Business Account

Although this first tip seems obvious, a lot of businesses make this simple mistake. Whether you’ve adopted an employee’s profile because they had an audience already or you’ve just not taken the time to register your company through the app, you could be missing out on potential sales.

Step 2. Perfect Your “TikTok Shop”

TikTok could be deemed by some as an eCommerce platform. While it’s not quite a competitor of Amazon or eBay, it certainly has a lot of shopper influence. Your business needs to decide which products are worth featuring on the platform, setting up an easy-to-access shop within the app.

Step 3. Create Engaging Content

To turn clicks into sales, you first need to get your audience’s attention. You can do this by creating innovative videos as well as following trends. One high-performing series on TikTok is simply titled “Pack an order with me!”. It does what it says on the tin and is a great way for businesses to promote their products and increase sales.

4. Target the Best Audiences

Are you targeting the right audience with your videos? Engagement is great for a business but, unless you are reaching the people who will buy your products, you won’t see much of a revenue impact. Start to review your current content strategy and adapt it according to your ideal consumer.

5. Form Partnerships

TikTok viewers love to see collaborative content between two or more creators. Therefore, you should always be looking for an opportunity to form a partnership with relevant influencers and brands. This will broaden your reach and increase your views.

6. Trust Your Employees

As a business owner or marketing manager, it can be hard to let go of control. However, to successfully increase your online sales through TikTok, you need to trust your employees. Some of the most viewed videos on the app are organic, real and authentic. In today’s digital age, people are constantly searching for something to connect with. Get them to invest in your story and they’ll soon invest in you.

7. Be Bold

TikTok’s algorithm works in mysterious and wonderful ways. Sometimes, you need to be following trends to see traction. Other times, you’re best to do your own thing. Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box and get creative with your content. This will make you memorable and draw more followers into your web.

8. Leverage Paid Ads

Once you’ve spent some time establishing your presence on TikTok and building up trust with your audience, you can start to leverage paid ads. You’ll need to choose the best products to promote according to your ideal target market and then carefully plan an advert so it’ll perform well.

9. Build the Best Team

Just like any other platform, TikTok requires time and attention. To succeed on the platform, you’ll need a team of specialists working behind the scenes.

We recommend onboarding a Videographer, Social Media Manager, Digital Marketing Manager, and Paid Social Specialist for the best results. These titles will bring the expertise, dedication, and creativity that every business needs to increase its online sales through TikTok.
